Telx, a leading provider of network-neutral colocation and interconnection services, will hold a grand opening event on April 23, 2009 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. to celebrate the opening of its newest data center facility at 100 Delawanna Avenue in Clifton, N.J. The event will offer attendees the chance to meet and mingle with industry experts on topics such as data center operations, advantages of multiple carrier services, and IT infrastructure technology, as well as participate in a discussion about the current state of the data center industry and related fields. Breakfast and lunch will be served, and tours of the new Telx data center will also be given.

Telx's new facility offers customers the ability to connect to more than 400 carriers, business exchanges, and enterprises, all with only a single point of connection between the networks. As a result, this network-neutral facility provides access to the largest number of carriers and businesses with some of the lowest latency rates in the region. In addition, the new Clifton facility offers diverse connections to three other Telx locations: two in New York City and a third in Weehawken, N.J.

"Our new facility in Clifton continues our leadership of providing network rich colocation in the NY metro area," said Eric Shepcaro, CEO of Telx. "New Jersey is one of the most important datacenter locations for running a production environment or having a disaster recovery site. The new site also enhances network up-time and offers a strong disaster recovery option for Telx customers located in New York."

Expansion of data center facilities around the New York metro area is critical, given the increasing focus on outsourcing of data center space that has been seen so far in 2009, which is expected to continue throughout this year. According to the New York Investment & Infrastructure Trends Update published by DatacenterDynamics Research Group in March 2009, the New York market will see an increase in investment in outsourcing as well as an increasing focus on total ownership and operational costs in 2009. This trend will drive demand for cost-effective colocation and general data center space offered by providers such as Telx.

"Current economic concerns are driving a heightened focus on total cost of ownership and on space optimization for data center users in the New York area," said Nick Parfitt, Researcher & Analyst at the Datacenter Research Group. "In this environment, it's critical that providers be able to offer cost-effective data center space, preferably with as many value-added services as possible to assist in reducing a customer's TCO. Therefore, the market picture emerging from research indicates that colocation providers who can offer high-quality, high-bandwidth and low latency data center space with additional services such as interconnectivity and proximity to hundreds of networks to connect to should remain in high demand in the greater New York metropolitan market."

To strengthen its appeal to customers, the Clifton location -- which is currently well-connected -- will also be connected back to Telx's two carrier-neutral facilities in New York City -- 60 Hudson and 111 8th Avenue, as well as to the Weehawken facility. This allows customers in Clifton to have access to their other locations as well as to over 400 networks in the New York metro region.

In addition to space and physical interconnection services, Telx will offer the Telx Virtual Exchange service, the new virtual MeetMe room connection to Frankfurt, the Telx Financial Exchange service, and dedicated Internet access to customers in the Clifton, N.J. facility. The facility offers customers 150 watts per square foot and is a Tier 3 data center with redundant power and is ready for immediate occupancy.
