(NASDAQ:RACK), a leading provider of servers and storage for large-scale data centers, today announced that Gorilla Nation, the world’s largest online ad sales rep firm, has selected Rackable Systems’ energy-efficient Eco-Logical^TM servers to meet their rapidly-expanding computing needs. As a result of Rackable Systems’ customizable configurations, including energy-saving DC power options, Gorilla Nation will be able to deploy additional eco-friendly, high performance computing in their North American data centers.

After evaluating multiple vendors and form factors, Gorilla Nation chose Rackable Systems’ Scale Out servers, a blade alternative that combines Rackable Systems’ patented back-to-back design for increased density and efficiency with the level of serviceability and ease of management traditionally associated with blades. Gorilla Nation’s deployment will also include two Quad-core Intel Xeon L5420, 50 watt processors per server and Rackable Systems’ unique rectified DC power capabilities. Gorilla Nation estimates that this configuration will save 15 percent in power and cooling costs, and will increase power density by up to 10 percent per rack in a small footprint, leaving available data center space to continue to scale along with their growing business.
