A sample, which assayed 204.00 grams per tonne gold and 25.80 grams per tonne silver, was taken from an outcrop of the mineralized quartz vein, and is representative of the vein. This new discovery, which BonTerra calls the Rivage Zone discovery, represents the highest gold grade discovered to date on the property. Just last month the company released drill results from the Eastern Extension, including numerous high grade zones with two samples assaying over 100 grams per tonne gold.
Mitchell Adam, President of BonTerra, stated, “Consistently excellent results from our 2010-2011 exploration program on the Property have clearly demonstrated the strength of the area, our team and work programs. This new discovery, 700 metres from the current drilling area has grown the size and scope of this project with the intent to create a potential 1.2 kilometre strike length.”
BonTerra, focused on the Barry Lake mineral district, is in the process of acquiring 100% interest in approximately 2800 hectares of highly prospective yet largely untested ground at the centre of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt, Canada’s most prolific gold mining region with over 180 million ounces of past production.
The Eastern Extension is one of BonTerra’s four properties located within the Urban-Barry belt, the others being the Lavoie, Uraban-Barry and Anderson properties. They are all located in the same neighbourhood as Metanor’s Barry deposit, Eagle Hill’s Windfall Lake property, along with Beaufield Resources, Glen Eagle, Urbana, Freewest and Key Gold.
The target for all drilling on the Eastern Extension property is smoky quartz veins mineralized with sulphides. Sulphides commonly compose 1 – 10% of the mineralized zones and can be as high as 30% locally.
BonTerra currently trades at $0.26, and with approximately 72 million shares outstanding is capitalized at about $19 million.
