Giftbirdy is a new site that allows kids to easily create and share customized gift lists with family and friends. Kids can also shop handpicked items and teen celeb-curated gifts, collect virtual pets, play games, and send e-cards.
Giftbirdy was founded in Los Angeles in the summer of 2012, by a group of parents with broad experience in the tech world. Built around the core elements of safety, responsibility and fun, Giftbirdy is envisioned as a helpful and enriching tool that will make life– especially holidays, birthdays, and special occasions– easier and more enjoyable.

Giftbirdy also aims to teach its young users about sharing and philanthropy. Kids have the option of adding charities to their list so that in lieu of a gift for themselves, the gift-giver can make a donation to a worthy children’s organization. Giftbirdy has secured teen actress and noted young philanthropist Bailee Madison to help encourage and promote giving.
The Giftbirdy team boasts an impressive record of innovation and achievement in both tech and entertainment. Highlights include: building and launching some of the earliest applications on Facebook (Mike Brennan & Jon Brennan); producing major studio movies and founding tech start-ups (Minor Childers, A Series of Unfortunate Events and Blacklots); creating original television programming (Garrett Darland, The Fizz); online sales and marketing veteran (Steve Smelt, Blacklots, Radius Marketing, Claria); and prolific Indie film producer and board member of the San Francisco Film Society, Todd Traina.
Marketing is in the accomplished hands of Lisa DiMarzio and Helene Bousel-Cohen, former studio marketing and promotion execs who have been at the forefront of developing new media integrations and sponsorships that deliver value and entertainment. Efforts will include Brand/Celebrity Outreach– approaching companies that have celebrity endorsement deals (targeting celebs most influential with kids and specific product lines). The site will also feature celebrities and their selected products via “Star Lists”. Giftbirdy has already entered into strategic partnerships to integrate brand and content with the largest independent kids network,Kabillion, who reaches more than 40 million households.
The Giftbirdy site launches at the most opportune time and will make a big push to get users to create gift lists for the upcoming holidays.
